Dr. Rolando Salazar brings more than two decades of advanced surgical experience to San Antonio OMS. Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, he graduated in the top ten percent of his dental school class before earning his oral and maxillofacial surgery credentials and MSD degree from the prestigious University of Puerto Rico. There, he trained in a hospital-based program known for developing highly skilled, independent surgeons and gained advanced expertise in Anesthesia, Medicine, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and ICU patient care.
Dr. Salazar trained under Dr. Julio E. Guzman, a pioneer in cleft lip and palate treatment, and worked alongside the U.S. Army training program in Fort Gordon, Georgia to further deepen his skills in trauma and reconstructive surgery. His clinical interests include complex implant rehabilitation, facial reconstruction, and head and neck pathology. An active lecturer and contributor to peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, Dr. Salazar is widely respected for his expertise in innovative grafting techniques, advanced reconstruction, and surgical management of challenging cases.
He previously owned a private practice in Laredo for over 15 years and held hospital privileges at Doctors Hospital of Laredo and Saint Joseph Medical Center. Outside the operating room, Dr. Salazar is a competitive tennis player and enjoys golfing and jogging with his wife of over 25 years and their two sons.
